Welcome to Edition #9 of the ‘Guardian of The Week’ series! Every second week, a special member of the community will be chosen to be featured.

This is our way of acknowledging and celebrating all the contributions, love and hard work you have all given to this family 🖤

We appreciate every one of you, and we hope this series gives everyone an insight into the brilliant people that make this community what it is!

In this edition, we acknowledge probably one of the most well-known members in our Guild of Guardians Discord, Winckelmans, also known as “The Jester”!

Winckelmans has been with us since August 2021 and is ranked as one of the most active members in the Guild of Guardians Discord community. His presence in the server brings spirit, increased morale, and his positive influence has made a powerful impact on the community.

Winckelmans’ honest and authentic interactions with his fellow community members are what truly characterise him. Always willing to mingle, help out, and if you need someone to chat to, most often than not, Winckelman will be available on Discord any time of the day. (Which makes me wonder if this guy even sleeps!)

Winckleman has also won two of the major GOG events, including the Chinese New Year Event and the most recent Lootbolt Bounty, “Touch Grass” which gave him the server role of GOG Class Clown, which is a pretty fitting role for the Jester. 🥳

Now, we will get to know this vibrant man even more. Here’s what he had to say…

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what brought you to NFT gaming and GOG

My name is Winckelmans; that’s actually my real last name. I don’t need to hide my identity, it’s 2022! Nothing is private these days.

I got into crypto around the time that ETH reached 2800$. I couldn’t resist, so I bought 1 ETH. In July 2021, I entered the crypto gaming world. The first game I played was AXIE Infinity, where I blew that 1 ETH and eventually spent more ETH. My last AXIE Infinity scholar stopped in April this year.

I joined Guild of Guardians early in August last year, so I’ve been a member for over a year now. I found GOG when I googled ‘crypto game’; and after discovering the GOG community, I have never left.

I was happy to participate in the “whitelist 1” for Guild of Guardians but missed my chance during the Wave 2 sale because I was asleep at that time. Then I joined whitelist 2 and got into Wave 3 to purchase GOG NFTs. Those were hectic times!

What do you love about being part of Guild of Guardians?

Our community, at this point, is just a regular bunch of lovely degenerates. Being a part of the community has been an amazing ride, especially since discovering GOG until the announcement of the new roadmap; those were awesome times!

I could stay in the discord for an entire day. Such a nice vibe we had and still have. This is the reason why I bought almost all GOG NFT assets, including a guild token and founded ENIGMA! I like the community, and I hope once everything falls in place, I can actively start to recruit new members. At the moment, I just personally hand-pick my beautiful gems of members!

What do you look forward to the most?

I look forward to the release of $GOG staking, which should be here before Alpha, the clown POAP I won from the previous event and many more Lootbolt quests! And of course ALPHA!!

I know you spend a lot of your time hanging out in Discord. Can you tell us what other activities you enjoy during your spare time?

I work out, CrossFit, spend time with my wife and dog, and hang out with friends. Have a few beers, wines, and cocktails, and yes, I party a lot!

Oh, and food! I like to eat a lot too!

Where do you see yourself and GOG in 5 years from now?

I’ll either be a full-time dad or own a boat in 5 years. I’m 34 now, married (sorry, guys and girls) and have my life together. I don’t need much more, I guess.

As for Guild of Guardians, I have already set my goals, and if GOG entirely reaches its potential, I’ll be the captain of my own guild ENIGMA for a long, long time. I’m in the luxurious position of having 5 days off in the week so leading a guild, time-wise, shouldn’t be that big of a problem. All I need to find is more Cabin boys and girls for my guild. If you are reading this and you think you are pirate material, feel free to DM me!

You also moderate other NFT servers in Discord. What drives you to be so passionate about Web3, and what is the ultimate goal?

As many of you know, I have a lot of free time in real life. I love to spend time talking to people and having a laugh with them. As I’m waiting for ALPHA, I want to discover more opportunities and more games to expand my portfolio. I believe that GOG will be a banger of a game; I already tested it twice and look forward to android users being included in the 3rd round.

Moderating other NFT servers has become a steady income for me to expand my portfolio. Also, I like working with like-minded people and those that want to achieve something besides their boring day job. As Web3 develops and expands, it’s becoming more important to me to be involved more in a project. To actually talk to the developers, the team leaders, and other mods and share ideas, and improvements.

In one of the NFT servers I joined, we have weekly video sessions. We can ask about anything to anyone, even the CEO of the project makes time to answer questions. I hope to see this being implemented in GOG 2. Open AMA’s, for example, with anyone from the team as everyone should know what they are building. Transparency is key!

My ultimate goal? Buy the boat I want and play GOG on it with my assets and grow ENIGMA!

A lot of us have been struck by ‘Crypto Winter’ — How do you feel about it? What advice do you have for people?

I’ve been in stocks ever since I’ve been legally allowed to buy them. I always got out on time from bear markets for stocks; as for crypto winter, this is my first. As I already mentioned, I have everything I need in life and don’t need to live from flip to flip. I bought assets with the money I don’t need.

How do I feel about it? Better and better with each month passing because I am investing more and more at low prices.

Advice? Never use the money you can’t afford to lose! Cliché? yes! True? Absolutely! Do not loan money to buy “the dip”; you might end up on the streets…

What advice do you want to share with new members who want to join Guild of Guardians or any other Web 3 games?

My advice for anyone interested in joining a Web3 project is: Please read. Read everything you can possibly do about the project as it’s your time, your money and your future. Reading is a skill that shouldn’t be neglected.

How can people get in touch with you?

Via Discord and Twitter. Pigeon mail isn’t hyped anymore, right?

We hope you enjoyed our ninth edition of ‘Guardian of the Week’. Every two weeks, we’ll introduce a new community member to acknowledge and celebrate their valuable contributions and achievements.

A very special thanks to Bayrd and Firebolt, who are the driving force behind the community-run initiative, Guardian of the Week.

Until next time, Guardians
